Technical decision support

Feasibility studies for test systems

What does your test system need to achieve – and which approach is feasible?

PreTeSo helps clarify requirements, assess technical options and prepare investment decisions. A feasibility study is often the first step: it identifies viable approaches, critical assumptions and the questions that need to be resolved before proceeding.

Which decision should the study support?

A new test requirement, a planned investment or the limits of existing equipment may be the starting point. The study assesses whether and under which conditions the intended approach is feasible. It can also recommend an alternative or further investigation.

Your deliverable

Feasibility study with a reasoned recommendation

Technical assessment, solution concept, risk analysis and recommendations form the core. The questions covered and depth of analysis are agreed for your project.

Objectives and requirements
Test objective, component, functional and technical requirements, relevant standards and operating conditions.
Technical feasibility and alternatives
Potential concepts, key components, interfaces and safety-related questions requiring further assessment.
Comparison and commercial assessment
Compare alternatives against agreed criteria. Record the basis and uncertainty of cost estimates and supplier information.
Risks, assumptions and open questions
Technical, commercial and project risks; missing evidence and further investigations needed.
Recommendation and next steps
An executive summary, recommended approach and indicative milestones for the next project phase.

Revision history

How we develop the study

  1. Clarify the question

Agree the test objective, scope, available information and decisions the study should support.

  2. Assess alternatives

Examine requirements, potential concepts and critical components; obtain agreed specialist input where needed.

  3. Compare feasibility and risk

Evaluate alternatives, commercial assumptions, dependencies and unresolved questions.

  4. Review the recommendation

Discuss findings and agree the next steps with your team.

What we need from you

  • Component information and the intended test objective
  • Required loads, operating conditions and applicable specifications
  • Available system documentation, measurements and previous findings
  • Site constraints, intended timing and investment parameters where available
Scope and further evidence

The study is based on the agreed information and investigations. Physical trials, detailed design, simulations or specialist assessments are included only where explicitly agreed. Unresolved points and the limits of the findings are documented.

Responsibilities

PreTeSo structures the study and coordinates the agreed technical input. Your team provides project information and reviews requirements and recommendations. Specialist contributions and supplier involvement are agreed as needed. The study does not replace detailed design, required safety evidence or system acceptance.

Format and schedule

Report format, review steps and timing are agreed after reviewing the available documents. Cost assessments identify their assumptions and level of uncertainty.

From the finding to the next project phase

Depending on the findings, the next step may be a detailed test system concept, a requirements specification, supplier selection or an assessment of existing equipment.
